Ariana Grande to get honourary citizenship of Manchester, UK

Ariana Grande is to get honourary citizenship of Manchester under plans put forward by the city council.

The council is proposing a new system to recognise outstanding contributions to the city.

The US singer is in line to be the first recipient for organising the One Love Manchester concert in aid of victims of the bomb attack at her gig, in which 22 people died.

Meanwhile, Manchester Arena is to stay shut until September following the terror attack.

Concerts by acts including Celine Dion and Blink-182 have been cancelled or rearranged.

The next event in the arena's schedule is a concert by US singer John Legend on September 16.
