Bob Marley album makes big chart debut

More than 33 years after his death, Bob Marley has scored the highest-charting album of his career, albeit with a 30-year-old compilation.  The reggae legend's classic 1984 best-of collection Legend landed at #5 on the Billboard 200 after selling 41,000 during the previous week. The album took a giant leap from #100 the week before thanks mostly to the Google Play store, which has lowered the price of the digital version of the album from about $8 to just 99 cents.  The highest chart position Legend reached prior to this week was #18 in 2012.  The only other Marley album to hit the top 10 of the Billboard 200 was 1976's Rastaman Vibration, which peaked at #8 in July of that year. Legend, which includes such signature Marley songs as "Get Up, Stand Up," "No Woman, No Cry" and "I Shot the Sheriff," has been certified as having sold 15 million copies in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America.  The compilation has been on the Billboard 200 or Catalog Albums charts since 1988 and, according to Billboard, it regularly sells between three thousand and five thousand units a week.
