Bob Marley birthday celebration, 'Soul Rebel', set for February 6

The annual Bob Marley birthday celebration will take place on Tuesday, February 6 at the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston.

It is being staged under the theme, Soul Rebel, a call for everyone to come together and stand up against violence and divisiveness in society.

Cedella Marley, CEO of the Bob Marley Group of Companies said the theme was selected because now more than ever, there is a need for us to raise our consciousness, to fearlessly rebel against the crime and violence that threaten to divide us.

The activities will commence at 7 a.m. with specially invited guests and will include the blowing of the Abeng, Nyabinghi drumming and the cutting of the birthday cake, accompanied by the traditional welcome from the Marley family and management of the Bob Marley Group.

This segment will also feature special performances from various schools within the Corporate Area.

At 10 a.m., the Bob Marley Museum will open to the general public for a full day of activities including a kiddies village.

The museum will also host three symposia.

A reggae jam session will commence at 3 p.m. featuring Blvk H3ro, all-girl band Adahzeh and live-stream performances from Skip Marley, Stephen Marley and other special guests.
