As the entertainment industry continues to express shock at the death of popular stand-up comedian Elva Ruddock, details have emerged about her battle with the autoimmune disease, lupus.
Elva, who died on Sunday morning, reportedly kept the extent of her illness private.
Although some of her peers were aware of her being ill, many were kept in the dark about the nature of her condition as she did want to be pitied.
Among those who have expressed regret at her passing are Comedians Owen Blacka Ellis, Christopher Johnny Daley and media personality Miss Kitty.
Minister of Culture and Entertainment Olivia Grange said in a statement that Elva was one of those persons who could "easily bring sunshine on a rainy day in anyone's life".
Miss Grange added that her bubbly personality was infectious and that Elva commanded attention with her presence and will be greatly missed by many.
