Drake, Cardi B lead BET Hip Hop Awards, AMAs nominees

Drake and Cardi B lead the field of nominees for the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards, with 11 and 10 nominations, respectively. 
 
Among Drake's cache of nominations are nods for Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Collab as well as two nods in both the Best Hip Hop Video and Single of the Year categories. 
 
Cardi B, the big winner at last year's ceremony with five awards including Best New Hip Hop Artist, is vying against Drake in several of the categories.
 
Rounding out the list of top nominees are Childish Gambino with six nominations, while tied next at five nods each are Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar. 
 
This year's crop of Best New Hip Hop Artist nominees includes the late rapper XXXTentacion.
 
For the second consecutive year, the awards ceremony will return to The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater on October 6. 
 
BET Networks will premiere the annual telecast on October 16 at 8 p.m.
 
American Music Awards 
 
Meanwhile, Drake and Cardi B also lead the nominations for the 2018 American Music Awards (AMAs).
 
Both rappers received eight nominations each. 
 
Drake will compete against Imagine Dragons, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift for the night's top honours - Artist of the Year
 
Cardi B will face off with Camila Cabello, Khalid, Dua Lipa and the late XXXTentacion for New Artist of the Year.
 
Voting begins now in all categories - except for new artist, favourite social artist and collaboration - on Billboard.com. 
 
The 2018 AMAs, hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, will air live October 9 on ABC at 8 p.m.
