Jamaican entertainers Koffee and Toots and the Maytals have received a major endorsement from former US president Barack Obama.
Mr. Obama shared a post on social media this past weekend, highlighting the list of songs he and his wife Michelle are jamming to for summer 2019.
On the list are Toast by Koffee and 54-46 Was my Number by Toots and the Maytals.
In response to Mr. Obama's announcement, Koffee reposted his original tweet quoting words from her own song that 'Gratitude really is a must'.
The song Toast has propelled the teen singer to superstardom and has been featured in Jordan Peele's hit film Us.
Toots and the Maytels are cultural royalty and are listed among the greats for ska and rocksteady.
The group won the first Jamaican Independence Festival Popular Song Competition, performing Bam Bam.
The summer 2019 playlist also includes music from Jay Z and Beyonce, Ella Mai, Sza, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Lauryn Hill and Lil Nas X.
