Netflix making documentary about failed Fyre Festival

Failed music event Fyre Festival is getting the documentary treatment in Netflix's upcoming movie about the disastrous concert.

Netflix released an exclusive first look at the documentary on Monday.

Fyre follows the events of the 2017 luxury music festival on a private island in the Bahamas which ended in complete catastrophe.

Attendees arrived to unsanitary festival ground conditions instead of the opulent amenities that were promised with their pricey ticket.

The festival's demise played out in real time on social media as guests struggled to leave the "Hunger Games-like" conditions of the island.

Fyre Festival's creators, Billy McFarland and Ja Rule, were hit with numerous lawsuits totalling more than $100 million in damages.

McFarland was also sentenced to six years in prison for wire fraud.

Directed by Chris Smith, Fyre gives viewers an inside look into one of the most notorious scams in music festival history.

It will premiere on Netflix on January 18.
