“Total Eclipse of the Heart” sales soar as solar eclipse covers America

Bonnie Tyler’s classic hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” has soared in sales in the last week.

Thanks to the advance buzz generated by today's total solar eclipse, the track’s digital download sales increased by 503% in the week ending August 20.

The song sold 12,000 downloads in the U.S. last week up from just 2,000 in the week before.

Sales are expected to rise further today as the single has made its way to the iTunes top 10.

“Eclipse” became Tyler’s only number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, spending four weeks atop the tally in 1983.
