"A retrograde step" says Morrison on proposed NHT, HAJ merger

Trade unionist and former member of  the Board of  the National Housing Trust (NHT) Vincent Morrison, is opposed to the proposal for the merger of  the entity with the Housing Agency of  Jamaica (HAJ).
According to Morrison the move is a "retrograde" step.
RJR News reported that the Special Commission which reviewed the operations of  the Housing Trust has proposed the merger.
This is among several recommendations coming out of  the Commission's report on the strategic review of  the NHT.
Morrison has warned of  risks with the proposed merger.
"When you look at the balance sheet of the Housing Agency of Jamaica, it is a disaster. If the decision goes to merge the entities, it will be the slide of the Housing Trust...... the Housing Trust was formed to deliver services, housing solutions, to Jamaican workers. It is not the right thing to merge at this time," he said.
