The Jamaica Egg Farmers Association has declared that there will be an adequate supply of table eggs for Christmas and that there will be no significant increase in the price. There was a major shortage last year.
According to Roy Baker, President of the Association, the projection for December is 13.2 million eggs, more than enough to meet the increased demand during this time of the year. He said the industry is now self sufficient and able to meet local demand for eggs.
Total production for this year is 130 million eggs.
