Barbados to privatise Grantley Adams International Airport

Barbados is to privatise the Grantley Adams International Airport.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley said the move would allow for significant expansion of the airport, including the addition of just under 30,000 square metres to place Barbados in a position to become the hub of choice for the southern cone.

Ms Mottley said, while the final numbers would depend on the accounting formula, it was expected that about 20-25 per cent of the shares would be available to the airport's workers and the National Insurance Scheme (NIS).
