BOJ approves revised opening hours for banks

The Bank of Jamaica has announced that the Supervisory Committee has approved the temporary variation of the opening or closing hours for branches of Deposit Taking Institutions.
In a release posted on the central bank's website, the BOJ said effective Monday, the statutory minimum weekly period of twenty-five and a half hours have been changed to twenty hours per week.
BOJ said the decision was made based on the developments relating to COVID-19 and the measures proposed to be taken by each Deposit Taking Institution to minimise the spread of the virus.
Subject to regulatory approval, individual Deposit Taking Institutions may be able revise their respective opening or closing hours, while ensuring that they provide at least 20 hours of service to the public each week.
