Brexit could dampen Jamaica's winter tourist season

Ed Bartlett

The effects of Brexit could have a dampening effect on aspects of Jamaica's winter tourist season.

Although 29,000 additional seats are confirmed from Canada and the figures from the US are strong, Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett said focus will be on Europe where there are issues due in part to Brexit.

"We're gonna have some meetings at World Travel Markets with all our European partners because we do recognise that there is a little softening as a result of Brexit out of the UK and there is also some level of skittishness in terms of the Spanish and Italians, primarily because of airlift issues," he said.
