The authorities in Guyana have turned the spotlight on Caribbean Airlines and Fly Jamaica following claims of price gouging.
Minister of State Joseph Harmon says the government has already called in the two airlines to express concerns about price gouging on the Guyana route.
According to Harmon, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure had threatened the raise the bond lodged by the airlines.
The Guyana Government has also decided to refuse permission to more international airlines that have one or two aircraft because passengers continue to be frustrated by long delays and cancellations.
He recommended that airlines have a firm structure with enough aircraft and back-up facilities to serve the travelling public properly.
