The Jamaica Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (JCAP) says the compliance rate with the Copyright Law is 70 per cent.
General Manager of JCAP, Lydia Rose, revealed that in 2017, the entity collected over $169 million on behalf of its members.
JACAP is a non-profit copyright collecting society that manages performing and recording rights in musical works.
It acquires performing and recording rights from composers, authors and music publishers as well as overseas affiliates.
The group licenses or gives permission for the use of those rights, collects licence fees in return for the grant of licences and distributes royalties to its members and affiliates.
