Demand for low skilled jobs to increase in coming years - Labour Ministry

A report by the Ministry of  Labour shows that low skilled jobs will be in demand over the next two to three years.
It says international demand for low skilled workers on the Overseas Employment Programme are for housekeepers, cooks, grounds men and kitchen helpers.
Low skilled jobs which are in popular demand in Jamaica include gardeners, labourers, kitchen assistants and security guards.
However, the report says low skilled workers are vulnerable to being replaced due to technological advancements such as robotics and automation.
According to the National Labour Market Survey, over the next three years there will an increase in demand of  janitors, cooks, gardeners and domestic helpers.
