Finance Minister to say today whether Jamaica one of 80 countries seeking IMF help

It will be known Tuesday whether Jamaica is among 80 countries which have approached the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for help amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The issue is to be addressed by Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke when he closes the Budget Debate in the House of Representatives Tuesday afternoon.

The IMF has predicted a recession for 2020 which could be worse than the one experienced in 2008.

It said it will massively step up emergency finance and stands ready to deploy its full one trillion US dollar lending capacity.
