Green lauds JSE Junior Market for its 'significant gains'

Floyd Green, State Minister in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, has said the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) Junior Market has recorded significant gains in the 10 years since its establishment.
 
Mr. Green said the market has grown from one company listing with capitalisation of $750 million, to some 43 entities that have generated approximately $135 billion in capital.
 
In addition, major increases have been recorded for contributions to Pay As You Earn from $200 million to $500 million over the decade; National Insurance Scheme up 148 per cent; National Housing Trust up 137 per cent; and General Consumption Tax up 940 per cent.    
 
Mr. Green was speaking at the Jamaica Micro Financing Association Limited's recent annual micro-finance sector leadership forum at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.
