Three international investors have reportedly expressed interest in the development of the Vernamfield airfield in Clarendon into an aerotropolis.
Finance Minister Audley Shaw says the investors – two from China and the other from Europe – have indicated that they are willing to invest US$2 billion to US$3 billion in the project.
Shaw was addressing the launch of new investment company Sygnus Capital on Wednesday.
An aerotropolis is an urban development comprising aviation-intensive businesses and related enterprises that usually extend up to 25 kilometres outward from major airports.
Transport Minister Mike Henry indicated earlier this year that there were local commitments for investment in the project.
