The Jamaica Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (JACAP) has disbursed more royalties to its members.
The Economic and Social Survey 2016 shows it disbursed J$56.7 million in royalties that were collected during the year.This represented an increase of 45 per cent compared with 2015.
Overseas royalties collected in 2016 by JACAP on behalf of its members totalled to $21.5 million relative to $14.1 million in the previous year.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Music Society recorded an increase in gross income in 2016 - it totalled $63 million - an increase of 18.3 per cent relative to 2015.
Income from broadcasting and cable was $32.1 million compared with $22.4 million in 2015.
Overall, $25.6 million was collected in permit fees from entities which used music protected by JAMMS licences, a decline of 0.7 per cent relative to 2015.
The reduction stemmed from lower collections by JAMMS from six of the eight categories of music users.
Events, Hotels and Motels accounted for the majority of the income from Licence Fees.
Overseas royalty payments were $5.3 million slightly up from $5.1 million in 2015.
