Jamaica has been selected as part of the roll out of Airbnb's new service titled Airbnb Trips.
The service will see visitors from around the world paying for unique experiences in Jamaica through the Airbnb platform.
According to the Head of the Global Policy at Airbnb, Chris Lahane, the new service will have far reaching benefits for Jamaica.
"I think they will also end up staying a little while longer and from a local perspective, this will drive more economics for local people. On the homes business 95 percent of the money actually stays with the host."
Lahane who was speaking in an interview with the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), says Jamaica was included in the Airbnb service because of its strong position in the tourism industry.
Airbnb is an online marketplace and hospitality service, enabling people to lease or rent short-term lodging including vacation rentals, apartment rentals, homestays, hostel beds, or hotel rooms.
