Jamaica's trade deficit declines by 11%

The Statistical Institute of  Jamaica (Statin) has reported that the country's trade deficit fell by more than eleven per cent over the first eight months of the year.
   
The deficit declined as expenditure on imported fuel and food fell.
   
Total imports were valued at US$3.4 billion. Exports fell also, but the impact of  lower spending on imports was bigger.
   
Exports were valued at us$895 million.
