The number of listed companies on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) is set to increase this year as nearly a dozen entities are reportedly planning to list.
According to Marlene Street Forrest, General Manager of the JSE, the renewed interest in the exchange coincides with the reinstatement of tax incentives for listed companies.
“We have been having renewed interest in companies wanting to come to the market to list and those who were anticipating that this promise would have been kept by the government – they are much closer to doing so. We spoke about 10 junior market listings for this year and we still maintain that this is achievable. In the near future, you will see a few more coming to list. We have listed one since the start of the year and there are others in the pipeline,” she said.
