Ocho Rios twinned with tourist town in Poland

Jamaica's resort town of Ocho Rios in St. Ann is being twinned with the northern Polish town of Ostroda.

A five-member delegation from the St. Ann Municipal Corporation, headed by Mayor Michael Belnavis, left Jamaica Wednesday night for Poland to represent the country at the signing ceremony Friday in Ostroda, a town considered a growing tourist site.

The twinning of the towns will lead to exchanges in matters relating to tourism, culture and sports and the exchanging of representatives of local government and the adoption of best practices at that level.

While there, the Jamaican delegation is also expected to visit the Ostroda Reggae Festival set for July 5 to 8.

The delegation will return to the island on July 11.
