Oil prices turned sharply lower as a result of the announced retaliatory tariffs by China against the US.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, West Texas Intermediate futures for September delivery fell $2.36, or 3.4 per cent, to $66.80 a barrel, after settling Tuesday at $69.17.
Brent crude for October, the global benchmark, gave up $2.51, or 3.4 per cent, to $72.12 a barrel.
