Oil prices headed higher on Tuesday, stretching gains into a second-consecutive session as the latest OPEC report showed oil production from the cartel fell last month.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil for October delivery gained 16 cents to $48.23 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
