Five entities have presented proposals to the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) in response to its announcement last month that it would review proposals submitted by March 15 to supply generation capacity.
The OUR had given interested parties, including the Jamaica Public Service Company and its shareholders, the opportunity to submit proposals.
An independent consultant has been hired to assist the OUR in conducting an evaluation.
The OUR said, given the number of submissions received, it will have to revise its March 31 timetable to provide the government with the results of its analysis. The agency has promised that it will now be able to advise the government by April 15.
