RBC profits up

Excluding a US$60m loss on the sale of  RBC Jamaica, and $32m of other charges in the Caribbean last year Royal Bank's profit in the first quarter of  its 2015 fiscal year was up 12% from a year earlier.
The profit for the three months ended January 31 included $1.25b from its personal and commercial banking segment.
Royal Bank had US$2.45b of net income in the first quarter, up 17% from a year earlier and better than analyst estimates as its Canadian banking segment had a record profit on strong growth in fee-based revenue and increased volume.
Most of  the bank's major operating segments showed growth.
