Transport Minister Robert Montague says the Sangster International Airport is now the fastest growing airport in the region.
Making his sectoral presentation in the House of Representatives yesterday Montague projected the airport to record growth amounting to three per cent this year.
He also said that Sangster International will see more improvements.
The renovated Ticketing Hall is now opened, a new shopping area and food court will be constructed and plans are advanced to increase the size of the Immigration and Custom Hall.
Concerning the divestment of the Norman Manley International Airport, the Transport Minister said this is fully on track and the operators will assume control in October.
The Government last October divested the operations of Norman Manley International to Mexican entity, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico.
A 25-year concession agreement was then signed.
