The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) is reporting that point-to-point inflation last month was 6.2 per cent.
That was a sharp increase when compared to 3.4 per cent in September.
In a news release on Friday, the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) said the inflation outturn was not anticipated and was higher than the target of four to six per cent.
The higher inflation rate was primarily influenced by faster increases in food and energy-related prices in the consumer price index.
