Tax hike on Trinidad's banks likely to stunt their expansion - Schnoor

Jamaican banker Anya Schnoor says the ten per cent increase in the corporation tax rate on commercial banks operating in Trinidad & Tobago over the last two years is likely to stop the expansion of the financial institutions.
Ms Schnoor, the immediate past president of the Bankers Association of Trinidad & Tobago will be taking up a new position at Scotia Canada shortly.
Ms Schnoor told the Express that banks may choose to defer plans to establish new branches and they may slowdown the implementation of new automatic teller machines (ATMs) in far-flung communities.
