United Airlines cancelling flights between US, China

United Airlines, the largest U.S. carrier operating in China, on Tuesday said it is adjusting its near-term schedule and cancelling 24 round-trip flights between the United States and China because so few people are travelling to China.

The cancellations affect flights from San Francisco International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Dulles International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

A statement United Airlines said due to a significant decline in demand for travel to China, it is suspending some flights between hub cities and Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai beginning February 1 to 8.

It said it will continue to monitor the situation as it develops and will adjust its schedule as needed.
