US, China negotiators meet to wrap up trade talks

Top U.S. and Chinese trade negotiators met on Friday to wrap up a week of talks that have seen the two sides struggle to detail how to bridge deep differences on China's role in global commerce.

If the two sides fail to reach a deal by midnight on March 1, then their seven-month trade war could escalate.

U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to raise tariffs to 25 per cent from 10 per cent on $200 billion of Chinese imports into the United States.

Trump will meet with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He at the Oval Office Friday afternoon.
