Used Car dealers association unaware of plans to develop standards

The Jamaica Used Car Dealers Association (JUCDA) says it has not been provided with details on a plan by the Bureau of  Standards Jamaica (BSJ) to develop standards, guiding the approval of  new and reconditioned motor vehicles.

The BSJ issued a statement last week that it will gather a team including the Association which will determine the standards.
It said a draft policy will then be submitted to the Standards Council for approval and then sent to the Minister of Industry and Commerce.

"What I am aware of is that there are concerns about the standards but we haven't been officially informed of when this new thrust will begin...." said Lynvale Hamilton, President of the Used Car Dealers Association.

He also said that the group is not averse to the formulation of standards for the used car industry.
