The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will on Monday add 100 buses to routes in the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region (KMTR) for the start of the new school year. This will increase the number of buses in operation to 445.
JUTC Managing Director, Colin Campbell, says at the end of the last school term, the company operated 400 buses. The figure was reduced to 345 during the summer period.
Several buses which were out of service for lengthy periods were repaired during an intensive maintenance programme. Mr. Campbell says the buses will operate according to a schedule on the 120 routes that the JUTC operates. The schedules will be posted in the JUTC’s transport centres; on its website, flyers; and in the newspapers.
