1,616 people murdered in Jamaica in 2017

Jamaica recorded 1,616 murders last year.
Of that number, St. James accounted for 335 murders.
Fifty other cases have been listed as death investigations.
This means that 2017 murder figures could increase.
The year 2017 is one of the bloodiest on record.
The highest on record is 2009 when 1,683 persons were murdered, followed by 2005 when 1,670 were killed.
