Agriculture Minister in talks to set up formal school feeding programme

The Ministry of Agriculture says discussions are underway for the establishment of a Home Grown School Feeding Programme in Jamaica.
Portfolio minister Audley Shaw disclosed that during discussions at the recently held FAO meeting in Rome, the organisation expressed an interest in sending a representative to Jamaica to assist in creating a model school-feeding programme.
Addressing the annual general meeting of the Jamaica Agricultural Society at the Denbigh Showground in Clarendon on Wednesday, Mr. Shaw said he is working with the Ministries of Education and Health to develop a formal school-feeding programme where children would eat more locally produced food.
