The US Department of Justice on Wednesday announced that a Florida resident has pleaded guilty to her role in the Jamaican lottery scam.
Cassandra Palmer, 33, pleaded guilty in a District Court to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
She was charged in October with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
Palmer worked with her co-conspirator in Jamaica, to recruit a friend in Maryland to receive US$7,500 from a victim.
Palmer faces a statutory maximum punishment of 20 years in prison, and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss resulting from the offense.
Palmer, who must also pay restitution to the victim, is to be sentenced on March 22, 2017.
