Nine months after a warrant was issued for her arrest for alleged fraud, attorney-at-law, Jade Hollis, is now in police custody. The attorney was picked up on Tuesday after her arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport.
Hollis was charged and offered station bail in the sum of J$3 million .
A warrant was issued for her arrest last August following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions that she be charged.
Hollis is accused of defrauding a housing agency of more than $34 million dollars. The police say the attorney, who was hired on behalf of housing development company, Global Design Builders, collected millions of dollars from clients and failed to pay over the money.
Her attorney, Jacqueline Samuels-Brown, reported that Hollis went overseas last year to undergo medical treatment.
She said her client denied the allegations and argued that Hollis and the complainant were in a dispute over legal fees.
