Ardenne High awaits outcome of probe into report of sexual assault

The administration of  Ardenne High School says it is awaiting the outcome of a probe by the authorities into a case in which a male teacher at the institution is accused of  sexually touching a female student.

The attorney representing the teacher has contacted the police. 

The teacher is scheduled to be questioned next week.

Nadine Malloy, Principal of  Ardenne, told RJR News that the school is cooperating with the police.

“We received a report from a senior student that a male teacher we inappropriate in his actions towards here. We felt that what she reported to us was inappropriate. We asked her for a report, we gathered other reports from persons who would have had conversations with her. We collated those reports, sent a copy to the children’s registry, we also sent a report to the Ministry of Education later, followed by a critical incident report. We also gave all information to the chairman of the board, who is also communicating with other members of the board,” she said.

Molloy said the school also contacted the student's mother.

“As soon as we collected all of the reports and we were satisfied that the occasion warranted further action we also contacted that child’s mother and asked her to come in to have a conversation with us, and she did.”

A group of persons staged a peaceful protest outside the school on Friday.
