Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch are probing the murder of attorney-at-law Nordraka Williams Burnett.
Mrs Williams Burnett, who was 34 years old, was stabbed to death at her home in West Kirkland Heights, St. Andrew, early Thursday morning.
Her husband, an officer in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has been arrested in connection with the killing.
A statement from the police said he is a Lieutenent.
Mrs. Williams Burnett was head of conveyancing at the law firm operated by well known attorney Christopher Townsend.
Mr. Townsend confirmed the incident on RJR's Hotline on Thursday afternoon.
The husband, who has reportedly been suffering from mental health issues, is in custody.
It is reported that the couple's two daughters were inside the apartment at the time of the alleged incident.
They were not harmed and are now with relatives.
