Bahamas looking to decriminalise ganja for medicinal, recreational use

The Bahamas National Commission on Marijuana is taking steps towards decriminalising marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes.

Persons over 21 will be able to use the substance for recreational purposes.

Marijuana will be permitted for medicinal use for persons over the age of 18.

Adults will also be allowed to have a maximum of one ounce in their possession without prosecution.

The commission is also pushing for an amendment of legislation that will allow the cultivation of a maximum of five plants per household for medicinal purposes.

The Bahamas joins a host of other countries that have or are in the process of decriminalising marijuana.
