Bail extended for Port Royal boat captain

Herbert Dowie, 57, the captain of the boat which capsized last month off the coast of Port Royal, killing two women, had his bail extended when he appeared in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Monday.
Mr. Dowie, who was granted station bail following the December 27, 2018 tragedy, is charged with operating an unlicensed vessel.
He is scheduled to return to court on March 18.
Jannel Decasseres, 35, of Summit Heights in St. Andrew and 45-year-old Edith Petscha of Evergreen Drive in Hatfield, Manchester died in the mishap.
Reports are that the two women were among a group of 12 people who were being transported to Lime Cay when the boat capsized.
Following investigations, Mr. Downie was charged as the vessel, was not licensed.
