The police on Friday charged a businessman with several breaches of the Larceny Act and resisting arrest.
He is Anthony Henry,41, of Waterloo Avenue, Kingston 10.
It is alleged that between August last year and March this year, Henry collected money from several persons after he allegedly purported to be a motor vehicle importer.
He reportedly convinced persons that he was able to import motor vehicles, parts and other accessories. J$2.7 million was paid by potential customers.
However, after not being able to deliver the items or return the money, a report was made to the police.
Henry is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
