C-TOC reports decline in gang activities

ACP Fitz Bailey

The Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch (C-TOC) is reporting a reduction in gang activities across the island.

Gang related activities have been linked to various crimes including murders.

Assistant Commissioner Fitz Bailey, head of C-TOC, said the police have been placing significant pressure on gangs in recent months.

According to ACP Bailey there have been positive results.

"There is a reduction in major crimes, and in particular murder, and a lot of our crimes, especially murder, are linked to some element of gangs, and if we are seeing that level of decrease then there is no doubt that the gang activities are actually lowering," he said.
