Two Canadian women were sentenced on Monday in the St. James Parish Court for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
They are 22 year old bartender Mariah Holland and 23 year old enquiry officer Jaques-Francoise Moukoury, both of Toronto addresses.
Miss Holland and Miss Moukoury were arrested by members of the Narcotics Division at Sangster International Airport in August last year, as they attempted to board a flight to Canada.
Miss Holland was held with three bottles with cocaine weighing six pounds and valued at $3.4 million.
Miss Moukoury was found with three bottles with cocaine weighing four pounds, valued at $2.2 million.
The women were each fined $1 million or nine months imprisonment for possession of cocaine and $1.5 million or nine months in prison for attempting to export cocaine, plus a three year mandatory imprisonment term.
Sentences will run consecutively if the fines are not paid.
