Caricel yet to respond to OCG recommendation to revoke its license

No decision has yet been made by Symbiote Investments, which trades as Caricel, as to the action it will take in response to the Office of the Contractor General (OCG) recommending that the Mobile Carrier and Service Provider licences granted to it be revoked.

Bert Samuels, who is a member of Symbiote's legal team, told RJR News last week that legal action was being contemplated against the OCG.

When contacted Tuesday morning, Mr. Samuels said discussions were still taking place.

"The legal team (is) still pondering and debating over the legal approach that we'll adopt in this matter, and we should know where we're going by this week," he said.

Symbiote has complained that it was never contacted during the course of the OCG's investigation.

There has been no response from Technology Minister Dr. Andrew Wheatley on the issue. He was in China on official business when the OCG tabled the Special Report on Caricel in the House of Representatives last week.

The OCG said it based the recommendation on adverse findings.
