CCTVs coming to St. James

Homer Davis

Mayor of Montego Bay Homer Davis says the St. James Municipal Corporation will soon be signing a memorandum of understanding for the installation of closed-circuit television cameras across the city of Montego Bay as the authorities move to consolidate gains made under the state of emergency.

Speaking at a function in St. James on Sunday, Mayor Davis, said installation will begin soon.

Mayor Davis said since the imposition of a state of emergency in St. James in January, there has been a 65 per cent decrease in murders.

He said up to the middle of June, there were 47 murders compared with 132 for the similar period in 2017.

The mayor believes the state of emergency should to be continued to maintain the progress that has been gained under the security measure.
