Charges to be laid against three for brazen daylight robbery

C-TOC Detectives are expected to lay multiple charges against three men, following a brazen robbery in Downtown Kingston on Sunday, where they pushed one of their victims into the sea.

According to a police source, about 9:00 a.m, a foreign national who resides in the USA and her fiancé, a private Security Officer, were sitting at the Victoria Pier.

It is understood that the couple was approached by three unarmed men, one of whom pushed the security officer in the sea. They proceeded to rob the woman's knapsack, containing two cell phones and personal articles.

Swift action by members of C-TOC led to the apprehension of all three men and the recovery of the stolen items.

The security officer was able to swim to safety.

The three accused face charges of Robbery With Aggravation and subsequent Anti-Gang charges.

Investigators are also exploring the possibility of Attempted Murder, subject to consultation with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. They say based on the depth and sea current, if the security officer was unable to swim, the possibility existed that he would have drowned.

RJR News has learnt that two teenagers are among the robbery accused, and that all reside in Southside in Central Kingston.
