Chastenet denies pressuring Speaker of St. Lucia Parliament to resign

St Lucia's Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has denied suggestions that he pressured the Speaker of the St Lucia House of Assembly to resign amid reports of a growing friction between them.

Leonne Theodore-John, who stepped down earlier this month after nearly two years in the post, is due to take up a diplomatic posting as Minister Counselor at the country's High Commission in London.

Prime Minister Chastanet, responding to the speculation, said every Speaker has his own unique style, but he enjoyed a good relationship with Mr Theodore-John.
